Our Team

James Townsend, P.T., DPT, OCS

James earned a bachelor's degree in exercise science in 2011 from the University of Delaware, where he competed on the track and field team for four years, and a doctorate of physical therapy in 2015 from the University of New England. James completed a 16-month Orthopedic Residency program with the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He sat for and passed the American Physical Therapy Association’s orthopedic clinical specialty exam in 2019. While James enjoys treating all orthopedic and sport related injuries, he has a special interest in treating running-related musculoskeletal injuries, as well as injuries and conditions of the spine and lower extremity. He enjoys running, cycling, traveling and spending time with family and friends.

Lea Guise, P.T., DPT

Lea graduated from Quinnipiac University in 2014 with her doctorate of physical therapy. After taking the boards, she decided to backpack around Southeast Asia for seven months. She spent three of those months volunteering as a physical therapist at a rehabilitation center in Cambodia, working primarily with patients with spinal cord and traumatic brain injuries. Following her return to the States, she then decided to move to Colorado where she worked as an outpatient pediatric therapist at Children’s Hospital in Colorado for more than five years before joining the team at Saco Bay Kids. Lea loves working with children of all ages and specializes in neurodevelopmental and muscle disorders, foot management (including clubfeet and limb loss), as well as concussion and vestibular rehabilitation. She is currently undergoing training in the management of pediatric pelvic health and is excited to start working with this population!

Emily Mullen, P.T., DPT

Growing up, Emily knew she wanted to be in health care, she just didn’t know what type or in what capacity. She always thought, “Life is far too amazing to not pursue what you want to do. There should not be limitations.” This thought helped guide her decision. She decided that she wanted to get those who have limitations back to doing what they love. At Quinnipiac University, Emily earned a bachelor's degree in health science and doctorate in physical therapy. Emily’s passion for pediatrics grew as she volunteered for Special Olympics and Camp No Limits. Two organizations that serve those with intellectual and physical disabilities/limb loss. When Emily isn’t working, she loves to enjoy the Maine outdoors, try new restaurants, travel and spend time with family and friends.
