    3rd Annual Maine Sports Medicine Symposium 

    Please join Saco Bay Orthopaedic & Sports Physical Therapy for our 3rd Annual Maine Sports Medicine Symposium! The symposium will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on November 17, 2017, at the University of Southern Maine (USM).

    This year’s focus is on the multidisciplinary approach to concussion management and features Ray Ciancaglini as keynote speaker. Ray is a former professional boxer and concussion awareness activist. His life story was featured nationally by ABC News and has been the subject of two New York Associated Press and New York News Publishers Award-winning stories. Ray was instrumental in getting The Concussion Management Awareness Act passed into New York State Law. He has battled Parkinson's Syndrome and Dementia Pugilistica (CTE) for years from numerous untreated concussions. Ray participates in several CTE research studies at Boston University.

    The event will be moderated by Matt Gerken, M.S., ATC, who has served as head athletic trainer for USM athletics since 1999. Presenters include Wayne Lamarre, MEd, ATC, Chad Flagg, MPT, Erin Hatch, PsyD, Dan Davies, MEd, ATC, CSCS, and Dr. William M. Heinz. They will focus on topics such acute on-field management, return-to-play and much more.
